New services on offer from council centres
Posted on 18/08/2009
Resources
Blue Badges, job searches and booking hospital appointments are among the new services on offer from the County Council’s customer service team.
Trained staff at the service shops, based at County Hall and other venues including libraries at Loughborough, Ashby and Syston, can help people with enquiries about the council.
Services on offer include:
• A jobs search computer, which enables you to browse for jobs, print off forms or apply online
• At major libraries, staff can book routine hospital appointments for patients who have been referred by their GPs *
• Blue Badge applications or renewals, which can be processed while you wait (subject to correct documentation being provided) *
• Applications for waste permits with the permit printed and ready within minutes at various locations *
• A customer satisfaction system called Govmetric at County Hall, where you can give feedback on Council services
* at selected locations
People can also call the customer service centre on 0116 305 0001, from 8am-6pm on Mondays to Fridays, about road defects, street lighting faults, blue badges, waste permits, recycling and school transport. Also new services such as copy certificates and Public Rights of Way enquiries.
Council leader David Parsons said: “Our service shops enable people to find out about county council services in their own area. These new features should make them even more useful.”
Background:
There are currently six Connect Service Shops in Leicestershire. Each has trained, knowledgeable staff to help you. Service Shops are run jointly with the local Borough or District Service and aim to provide "one-stop" access to any Council Service.
There are 61 Connect Help Points based around Leicestershire. These are intended as a self-help service for members of the public, although staff are available for assistance if needed.
