Brassed off? Come and enjoy an evening of world class music at Snibston

The world famous Desford Colliery Band will play a special evening concert as part of Snibston’s Miners’ Gala celebrations next month.

Traditionally, colliery bands were an important way for miners to come together and express themselves socially and musically. From the earliest days, colliery bands epitomised community focus and local pride.

That spirit lives on today, and to celebrate the Desford Colliery Band is performing at Snibston at 7.30pm on Saturday, 12th September.

The band will be competing against the country’s top brass bands in the British Open Championships in Birmingham earlier in the day before coming straight to Coalville for this one-off performance, sponsored by the National Union of Mineworkers.

Desford Colliery Band are currently ranked 14th in the world, are four times National Champion and have been Mineworkers Open Champion for three of the past five years.

This is a great opportunity to see Leicestershire’s world class brass band on their home ground, before they go on to compete at the Royal Albert Hall for the British National Championships and Brass in Concert at the Sage Gateshead.

They will be performing a wide repertoire of music to entertain, inspire and bring people closer together.

Tickets for the concert cost £3 and are limited in number. To make sure you will see this great band in action, call Snibston to book tickets on 01530 278444. For further details visit  www.snibston.com or email: snibston@leics.gov.uk
