Learn a New Language - Talk to The World!
Posted on 18/08/2009
Adult learners in Leicestershire can break through the language barrier with a wide range of new courses on offer at venues thoughout the county.
Learning a little language makes a real difference and can help with everything from smoothing the way on holiday to being abroad on business.
Leicestershire County Council’s Adult Learning Service is offering a variety of different language courses – for beginners through to advanced levels.
There are a large number of 15-week beginners’ courses on offer in languages including Italian, French, Spanish, German, Greek, Polish, Russian or Mandarin Chinese.
French courses can pick up where school lessons stopped and the Spanish lessons are perfect for anyone thinking of heading there on holiday.
Courses are also available in British Sign Language, either in short units of study to make learning manageable, or as a full Level one or level two course.
Makaton is useful for those living or working with children and adults with learning and communication difficulties and is available for professional staff or carers at two levels.
A huge variety of other courses is available ranging from Aerobics to Video Editing and from Astronomy to Russian.
People can sign up at the touch of a button by calling the freephone number - 0800 988 0308 - where information and advice is available about all courses offered.
Peter Sapsford, Principal Adult Learning Officer for the County Council, said: "Now is the time for everyone to treat themselves with a new academic year resolution, learning something new whether it’s for work, personal development or for fun.”
Local brochures will be delivered during August but course lists are available by calling 0800 988 0308, from libraries, adult learning centres and community centres or by emailing adultlearning@leics.gov.uk with address details. More information is also available at: www.leics.gov.uk/golearn
