Braunstone bobbies get on their bikes

Cllr Wayne Naylor hands over the bicycles to PC Andy Goadby, PC Jim Walne & PCSO Dan Wilmott
Neighbourhood officers for South Braunstone will now be able to cycle around their beat thanks to the generosity of the Braunstone Park and Rowley Fields Ward Community Meeting.
Three bicycles have been supplied to the neighbourhood team, thanks to funding from the Ward Community Meeting, to enable the officers to be more visible on their beat.
PC Jim Walne said: “These bikes mean that not only will we be able to get around our beat more easily, but we'll also be able to stop and chat to people along the way and discuss any policing concerns they may have. That is what Neighbourhood Policing is all about and it is what members of the public want from us."
PC Andy Goadby added: "We are absolutely delighted with the new bicycles and we would like to thank the Ward Committee Meeting for agreeing to fund them.”
Ward Community Meetings are open to all members of the community. They give residents the opportunity to work with the Council departments and other agencies, such as the Police and Primary Care Trust, to identify local issues and improve their neighbourhoods.
Councillor Wayne Naylor for the Braunstone Park and Rowley Fields Ward said: “Currently in the Braunstone Park area we do have issues regarding anti-social behaviour. Bicycles enable the police to be much more visible and respond quicker. We thought it was a very worthwhile and positive thing to support.”
