Assault in Braunstone Town
Police are appealing for witnesses following the report of an assault in Mossdale Meadows, Braunstone Town.
The incident happened at around 5.15pm on Friday August 14, while the 71-year-old victim was playing golf at the park in Kingsway.
He was approached by a man who was concerned that one of the golf balls could have hit his dog he was walking.
An altercation took place between them and the man then assaulted the victim.
The suspect walked off in the direction of the football pitches after the incident.
The victim received minor injuries to his face as a result of the assault but did not receive any treatment.
The man is described as white, around 5’9” tall, was in his late twenties to early thirties and was of a stocky build. He was clean shaven and had a round face. He had short, mousey brown hair that had been brushed forward and was wearing a short sleeved top, shorts that came just below the knee and trainers. He had with him a dog, a small boy and spoke with a local accent.
PC Adam Palmer, the officer investigating the incident, said: “The victim was left shaken, angry and scared after the assault and we are eager to find the man responsible.
“We would like anyone who was in Mossdale Meadows early evening on Friday August 14, who thinks they may have information on the assault to contact us.
“Can you remember seeing a man matching the description, with a dog and a young boy, walking in the area? Do you know who he is? Did you see where he went to?”
Anyone with information is asked to contact PC 2935 Adam Palmer on 0116 222 2222 and follow the instructions to leave a message for an officer. When prompted key in his identification number 2935. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
