Robbery at bus stop in Beaumont Leys
Police are appealing for witnesses following the report of a robbery at a bus stop on Rutherford Road, Beaumont Leys.
The incident happened at around 12.20pm on Friday August 14, when the 30-year-old victim’s bag was taken from the handle of her son’s pushchair by a man sitting next to her.
The man ran from the bus stop, with the bag, in the direction of Bennion Road.
Three people, who were in the area at the time of the incident, chased the man. They managed to retrieve the bag and return it to the victim.
The man is described as black, aged in his early thirties, around 5’10” tall and of a large build. He had a black afro and was wearing navy tracksuit bottoms and a tight, dark coloured t-shirt.
Detective Constable Damian Young, the officer investigating the incident, said: “We are appealing to those people who were in the Rutherford Road area on August 14 to think back.
“Can you remember seeing the incident? Did you see the man being chased? You may not have seen the robbery itself but maybe you can remember seeing a man matching the description running from the Rutherford Road area? Maybe you saw where he went? If so then please call.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact DC 1262 Damian Young on 0116 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for an officer and when prompted key in his identification number 1262. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
