Burglary at Trent Lane industrial estate, Castle Donington
Police are appealing for witnesses following the report of a burglary at Ferry Speed commercial unit in Willow Road, Castle Donington.
The incident happened at around 3am on Friday August 14, when suspects entered the unit, at Trent Lane industrial Estate, and stole a white Scania lorry.
The lorry contained a substantial number of cigarettes and alcohol. It was found later the same day abandoned and burnt out in Durham, the items inside the lorry had been removed.
Detective Constable Paul Davies, the officer investigating the incident, said: “We believe that there were around five to six men involved in the burglary and would like anyone who thinks they might know those responsible to call us.
“If you were near Trent Lane industrial estate at around 3am on August 14 then we want you to think back. Can you remember seeing a group of men in the area? Did you see where they came from? Were there any other vehicles involved? Did you see the lorry leave the estate? Any information you have about this incident could be vital to our investigation.
“It is likely that the suspects will now try and sell on the stolen goods and we want people to be aware of this and contact us if they are suspicious of anyone trying to sell them cigarettes or alcohol.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact DC 291 Paul Davies on 0116 222 2222 and follow the instructions to leave a message for an officer. When prompted key in his identification number 0291. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
