Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault in Tadcaster Avenue.

The incident happened at around 5pm on Sunday, August 23 when a 10-year-old girl was riding her bike on the pavement.

She was approached by a youth who assaulted her, pushing her to the floor.

The victim received a black eye and grazes to her shoulder and hip. She did not require hospital treatment.

The suspect is described as white, between 15 to 16-years-old, around 6’ tall, slim build with short ginger hair with a zig zag pattern shaved on the right hand side, blue eyes and freckles. He was wearing a white t-shirt with pink lines running diagonally across the chest, blue tracksuit bottoms and black Nike trainers.

PC Lou Maguire, who is investigating the incident said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area on Sunday afternoon and saw a youth matching this description. Alternatively, maybe this description matches that of someone living in your street or in your area?

“Any information could be helpful to our enquiry, so if you saw anything at all we would ask you to contact us.”
