Attempted robbery in Wigston

Police are appealing for witnesses to an attempted robbery in Wigston.

The incident happened in Saffron Road at around 2.50am on Thursday, August 13.

The 24-year-old victim was approached by five men, one of whom asked him for money, before assaulting him. The victim then ran from the scene.

Nothing was taken in the incident.

The man who assaulted the victim is described as white, around 54 tall with light, possibly bleached, hair which was spiked and gelled. He was wearing a white/beige jacket and blue jeans and spoke with a local accent.

The car the men got out of is described as a dark red Vauxhall Corsa with a 52 plate.

PC Tanya Lehane, who is investigating the incident said: We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious. Although it happened in the early hours of the morning it is possible some members of the public would have seen something.
