Skyriders can start ride in Oadby
Posted on 27/08/09
Highways, Transportation & Waste Management
Oadby cyclists are being encouraged to join the Skyride, a mass bike ride around traffic free city streets, from Parklands Leisure Centre.
A led ride will leave Parklands at 10am prompt, to join the main 8km Skyride route at Abbey Park.
Lesley Pendleton, the County Councils Cabinet Member for Highways and Transportation said, The Skyride is a fantastic opportunity for people to experience cycling around the city without having to worry about cars and now Oadby residents can join the ride a bit closer to home, under the guidance of an experienced ride leader.
To sign up for the Skyride, or to find out more information about cycling in Leicestershire, visit www.leics.gov.uk/cycling
If you wish to join the ride at Parklands, please contact William Pugsley on 0116 271 8788 or email info@wheg.net
The Oadby Skyride route is supported by CTCs (Cyclist Touring Club) Cycling Champions Project who have supplied guide leaders to help with traffic and risk assessments of the route. The project aims to help people discover cycling and what a fun, fast way it is to get around.
