Hop on to a hospital bus
Posted on 27/08/2009
Highways, Transportation & Waste Management
Information detailing bus services to the three University Hospitals of Leicester has been produced in a new hospital bus guide leaflet.
The leaflet gives information on the nearest bus stops to the Leicester Royal Infirmary, Glenfield and the Leicester General Hospital; and which buses run through the hospital sites next to the main entrances, or stop close by.
Lesley Pendleton, Leicestershire County Council Cabinet Member for Highways and Transportation, said: “Travelling by bus to the hospital for non-emergency visits is a very cost effective and convenient way to travel. It also takes away the stress of waiting for a car parking space.
“Each of the three university hospitals are well-served by buses, and this is very important as parking can very often be limited.”
The hospital bus guide is available from Tourist Information Centres, Council Service Shops and libraries.
The hospital bus information can be downloaded at www.leics.gov.uk/transport_downloads Alternatively, residents can call 0116 305 8777 or email passengertransport@leics.gov.uk to request a copy.
For help on planning a bus journey, visit www.traveline.info or contact Traveline on 0871 200 22 33. This line is open from 7am to 9pm, seven days a week.
