Assault in St Peters Road
Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault in St Peters Road last night (Thursday August 27, 2009).
Officers were called at 10.32pm following reports a man had received stab wounds to his torso.
A 22-year-old man was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment and has been transferred to Glenfield Hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
An investigation is underway into the circumstances leading up to the incident and officers have cordoned off part of St Peters Road at its junction with Laurel Road and Mere Road to allow for forensic examinations.
No-one has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Detective Inspector Siobhan Ashford, who is investigating the incident said: “We would like to speak to anyone who was in the area last night and saw the incident take place.
“We believe there were a number of people around at the time and would ask anyone who has not yet spoken to us to come forward and do so. Any information you may have could help us with our enquiries.”
Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact Leicestershire Constabulary on 0116 222 2222. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
