Preparation for General Election Already Underway in Charnwood

Posted on 28/08/09

Although the general election has yet to be called, council officials in Charnwood are already working hard to make sure that all eligible voters can have their say on polling day.

The council has already sent 66,000 forms to households in the Charnwood area in order to compile a new electoral register that will be the basis for next years elections.

By completing and returning the form, Charnwoods voters will be making sure they will be able to have their say on what matters to them.

David Dalby, head of Democratic Services at Charnwood Borough Council, said: Dont miss out - theres a general election coming between now and June 2010. If youre not registered to vote, then you cant make a decision about who represents you in Westminster.

Its simple to register, all you have to do is complete the Electoral Registration form that has been put through your letter box it only takes two minutes. If the details on the form are correct, you can even confirm this on-line, by phone or, for the first time this year, by text.

If you do not have a form, or want to find out further details about electoral registration, please contact the councils electoral registration helpline on Loughborough 01509 634 613 or Loughborough 01509 634 612.
