10ft miner mascot challenge in Coalville town centre

Coalville residents with a flair for art and a love of crafts are invited to enjoy town centre art workshops to create a giant miner mascot.

Two workshops being held at the Belvoir Centre on 4th and 5th September will enable people to help create the larger-than-life mascot which will be carried on 12th September during Snibston’s Miner’s Gala parade.

Run by Mantle Arts, and in association with the Coalville Town Centre Partnership, the drop-in sessions will allow residents to make their mark on the event and maximise community involvement.

Alison Clague, organiser of the Miners’ Gala, said: "It’s very important that our local residents enjoy the spirit of the occasion and what better way to be involved than by using your creative flair to enhance the parade itself."

The drop-in sessions will run on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th September 2009 between 10am-12noon, and then again between 1pm and 3pm. No booking is required.
