New ICT courses for Leicestershire learners
Posted on 08/09/2009
The latest ICT qualifications are on offer to help people improve their job prospects and skills or pursue an interest.
Computer know-how is now essential in most work places and through Go Learn, the County Council is making a range of courses available to help adult learners pick up the skills they need.
People can sign up for a variety of qualifications including ECDL and CLAiT, a new touch-typing course and First Steps to start the journey into computing.
CLAiT and ECDL have been updated for 2009 courses, are available in most centres and this year, include fast-track and distance learning options.
Digital camera courses will give people the confidence to get the best from their equipment and cover all benefits such as instant results, transferring pictures to a computer and experimenting with picture editing.
There is also the chance to learn some of the more creative computer courses including Digital Photo Editing, Web Site Design or Digital Animation. Many people choose to do all three to expand their knowledge of the media world and achieve a full OCR certificate.
People can sign up at the touch of a button by calling the new, freephone number - 0800 988 0308 - where information and advice is available about all courses offered.
Ivan Ould, County Council Cabinet Member for the Children and Young People's Service, said: "Our classes provide a friendly, welcoming atmosphere with lots of help from the tutor. ICT skills are required in every area of the workplace so I would encourage everyone to start learning - you will never regret learning something new."
Local brochures have been delivered during August but course lists are available by calling 0800 988 0308, can be picked up in from libraries, adult learning centres and community centres or by emailing adultlearning@leics.gov.uk with address details. More information is also available at: www.leics.gov.uk/golearn .
