Bosworth Park celebrates Green Flag status!

Photo opportunity: Market Bosworth Country Park is celebrating after once again being recognised as one of the finest parks in the Country. This is the fourth year in which the park has been awarded the Green Flag. To mark this achievement, Roger Wilson, the Chairman of Leicestershire County Council, will present the park’s rangers and volunteers with the much sought-after Green Flag to fly in the park. The presentation is taking place on Monday 21st September at 10.30am.

Judges were impressed with the elegant landscaped parkland on the edge of Market Bosworth town. They highlighted the recent improvements to accessibility, how well kept the park is, and the commitment of all the people involved. The judges also commended the environmentally-friendly toilets which operate using rainwater harvesting, the community involvement in practical projects, and the very strong nature conservation work taking place on the park.

Amongst the continuing improvement and activities at Bosworth Park, notable highlights are:

  • The new circuit of all-weather surfaced paths.
  • The annual ‘Pop in the Park’ concert featuring local bands which is run in partnership with the Market Bosworth Festival.
  • Use of the park by local schools, community groups and for the regular programme of health walks.

Roger Wilson, the Chairman of the County Council, said:

"The Green Flag Award recognises how good our parks are in Leicestershire. Bosworth Park provides excellent events and facilities for the public and all the rangers work hard to ensure that it is an enjoyable place for people to visit. Well done to everyone at Market Bosworth Park."
