Community Services
Snibston Discovery Museum is once again supporting a local community group by exhibiting artists’ work in its Community Gallery.
The Ibstock Art Club is presenting its 3rd Annual Art Exhibition atSnibston until 29th October 2009. Displaying artwork from talented artists across North West Leicestershire, the display will mainly feature water colours of varying themes, created during the last 12 months.
Mrs Pauline Smith, secretary of the club, said "As a relatively new club we are delighted to be able to make use of the excellent display space available at such a prestigious venue".
Ernie White, Leicestershire County Council Cabinet Member for Museums said: “It is vitally important that our museums support local community groups, both to maintain relations with the community, local people and organisations, but also to give individuals the opportunity to showcase their work and demonstrate their talent. Snibston in particular has a good track record of these events, demonstrating its importance within the community”.
The club, formed in 2007, meets atthe Ibstock Community College on Wednesday mornings from 9.30amuntil 11.30am. New members are very welcome, whatever their ability, so come along and have a go!!
The exhibition is free to view at Snibston, Ashby Road, Coalville.
