Forensic Career Open Day 2009
Posted on 02/10/2009
Forensic Career Open Day 2009
Leicestershire Constabulary is holding its annual Forensic Career Open Day at Force Headquarters, Enderby on Saturday October 10, 2009.
Each year the Force receives hundreds of letters of enquiry and application forms regarding the work of the Scientific Support Team, from people wanting to explore the career and perhaps become part of Leicestershire Constabulary.
The Scientific Support Forensic Career Open Day gives people the opportunity to get an inside track on what it’s really like to be a part of the Scientific Support Team with talks by current members of staff.
There will be a talk by a Scenes of Crime Officer (SOCO) about how they investigate crime scenes; a fingerprinting process demonstration; a Forensic Imaging display of footprints; the Hi-Tech Crime demonstration discussing the way data can be traced and analysed; and a group of scientific services companies will talk about the way they work with police forces to process evidence.
In addition, partners from De Monfort, Leicester and Nottingham Trent University will have stands relating to relevant undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
The Scientific Support Team will discuss what people find so interesting about forensic science and amongst other things what it takes to be a part of the Team.
Tickets are available now from the front desks of Wigston, Mansfield House, Beaumont Leys, Loughborough and Keyham Lane police stations; these are available on a first come first served basis.
Last year, all 300 tickets were claimed in a short period of time, so we encourage people to take action to avoid disappointment.
There are two ticketed sessions (9.30am to 11.45am and 11.45am to 2pm).
