Melton Borough Council and the Library Team Up

Since the fire at the Council Offices in May 2008 and the restriction on public access to the council offices, there has been no face to face service close to the town centre.

Although face to face services provided through the children’s centres has been hugely successful, Melton Borough Council has identified that a number of vulnerable, older residents living in and around the town centre have been struggling to access face to face services.

Leicestershire County Council and Melton Borough Council are pleased to announce that they have teamed up to provide face to face customer service from Melton Library on Wilton Road.

The library already delivers a range of the bio bags and radar keys services on behalf of Melton Borough Council and this is being extended to include waste management queries, photocopying of evidential documents, postal service and general non-confidential enquiries. A member of Melton Borough Council’s Customer Services team will be available at the library Mondays – Fridays 10am – 4pm.

This facility is part of a wider programme of partnership working focusing on extending the use of the County Council’s libraries being lead by the County Council’s Customer First Programme.
