Two men have been prosecuted in connection with an incident of drive-by fly-tipping in Barrow upon Soar.
Ian Mitchell, 22, of Gladstone Street in Loughborough and Mozammel Hussain, also 22, of Ratcliffe Road in Loughborough, pleaded guilty to charges at the towns Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
The court heard how a number of large cardboard box were dumped on the road side in the villages Bridge Street when Hussain stopped his van at traffic lights on June 3.
The passenger, Mitchell, was witnessed getting out and throwing the waste material into the bushes.
Both men were ordered to pay 95 each - 30 in fines, a 15 victim surcharge and 50 costs after admitting their parts in the incident.
Chris Cary, Charnwood Borough Councils Senior Environmental Crime Enforcement Officer, said: This sort of behaviour is totally unacceptable.
If you are caught fly-tipping you will be prosecuted and receive a criminal record. It is simply not worth it.
The Councils Cabinet Member for the Environment Hilary Fryer said: No-one likes to see rubbish dumped by the side of the road.
We would encourage anyone who witnesses anyone illegally dumping rubbish in our countryside, towns or villages to contact us and we will investigate.
Anyone who wishes to report a fly-tip or, come forward with information in complete confidence, can call Charnwood Borough Council on 01509 634 657 / 634 905 or email cleaner.greener@charnwood.gov.uk
