Snibston Preparing for a Big Bang!
Posted on 13/10/2009
Community Services
Snibston Discovery Museum is preparing to host its annual main event, its Fireworks Spectacular. This year is set to be bigger and better than ever before and up to 8,000 people are expected to attend.
With gates opening at 5.30pm on Saturday 7th November, there will be a whole evening of family entertainment with live music from local band, the Mokats, Hermitage FM radio, a bonfire, fireworks, street entertainers and much much more.
The museum itself will be open throughout the evening, meaning everyone can explore the wide range of interactive exhibits and objects on display at no extra cost.
Ernie White, Leicestershire County Council Cabinet Member for Museums said: “Bonfire Night is still an autumn family ritual for people; it’s a great time to get out and have some fun as part of the community. A venue like Snibston really lends itself to this kind of event and it really goes to show how important places like this are.”
The bonfire will be lit at 6.45pm and the fireworks will go off with a bang from 7.30pm. Tickets for over 5s are £6 on the gate, but only £4 if booked in advance. A free shuttle bus will collect guests from the Council Offices in Coalville and from outside Argos. Parking is restricted to blue badge holders only and requires prebooking. Gates close at 7.15pm and late entrants will not be permitted.
To buy tickets please call 01530 278444 or visit Snibston, Ilkeston Co-op Travel, Hermitage Leisure Centre, Ashby Tourist Information Centre, Coalville Library or County Hall Library.
