Loughborough Microchipping

Dog owners are being encouraged to take advantage of a microchipping service being offered by Charnwood Borough Council.
Microchipping dogs is voluntary, although there has been publicity recently about proposals to make it compulsory, and enables pets which have strayed to be identified and returned to their owners.
It is a legal requirement that every dog, when in a public place, must wear a collar with the name and address of the owner identifiable on it, or on a place or badge attached to it.
This is essential if a finder is to be able to return the dog to its owner as soon as possible. However, it is not always reliable, as the collar can become lost, which is a good reason for dog owners to consider having their pet microchipped.
