Assault in Loughborough
Police are appealing for witnesses after a 19-year-old girl was victim to a common assault in Loughborough.
The incident happened sometime between 3am and 4am on Thursday October 8 as the victim was walking down Leopold Street.
She was approached by a man who engaged her in conversation and then put his hand around her waist and grabbed her clothing.
She ran to her home address and called the police.
The man is described as tanned or dark skinned around 5’8” to 5’11” tall, average build and around 20-30 years old.
He was dressed all in black and was wearing a balaclava.
PC Rachael Dyer who is investigating the incident said: “A unique point about this man was that he was wearing a balaclava. The victim genuinely thought he had perhaps been to a fancy dress party. She didn’t think anything sinister of it until he put his arm around her waist.
“This is obviously quite a distinctive point. If you recall seeing a man in and around Leopold Street in the early hours of Sunday October 8, wearing a balaclava, then please get in touch.
“Perhaps you were making your way home from a night out. Maybe this man spoke to you too. Any information you have could be important so please make contact.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 4243 Rachael Dyer from Loughborough LPU on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for an officer and when prompted key in his identification number 4243. Alternatively, people can call Crimestoppers free* and anonymously on 0800 555 111.
