Anti Social Behaviour Injunction Served Against Loughborough Resident

CNH today successfully sought and gained an Anti Social Behaviour Injunction against Pauline Smith of 16 Pinfold Gardens, Loughborough.

Smith and associates have been the source of significant concern to local residents, the Police, the Borough Council and Charnwood Neighbourhood Housing since the latter part of 2008 resulting in the police obtaining a Crack House Closure Order earlier today in the Loughborough magistrates court.

In Leicester County Court Judge Hampton ordered Smith to refrain from entering the Pinfold Gardens area and surrounding areas until 20th October 2010. Smith was also ordered to refrain from associating with named drug users and was warned that she would be in contempt of this order if she was found to be in possession of any controlled substance within the borough of Charnwood.

CNH have also started legal action to bring Smiths tenancy to an end.

Isobel Rickard, Director of Housing Operations said,This is the third tenant on the Bell Foundry Estate to receive an injunction banning them from the area due to drug related anti social behaviour. CNH is committed to working with partner agencies to rid this estate of drug related anti social behaviour. The tenants of the Bell Foundry Estate in Loughborough are entitled to live in a neighbourhood free from anti social behaviour and we will continue to take positive enforcement action to help achieve this.

Wendy Brown, ASB Co-ordinator for Charnwood Borough Council, said: Action of the type taken by the Police and Charnwood Neighbourhood Housing on behalf of the Council has an extremely positive impact in areas where people like Pauline Smith have engendered fear into whole communities. It empowers people to act, encouraging them to speak out and enables them to claim back their homes, streets and estates from the minority of people who seem determined to make the lives of the law abiding majority a misery. The local residents, who supported these legal actions, should be praised for their courage in coming forward on behalf of their community.

Sgt Jamie Osborne, said, I would like to thank the community who assisted the police in the gathering of the evidence that was required to complete the crack house closure. Working in partnership with CBC and CNH we will continue to gather intelligence into the drug activity and related ASB and take action as we deem appropriate
