JOHN STORER HOUSE FOUNDATION

Earlier today inLoughborough released a story from Loughborough MP, Andy Reed, regarding immediate cuts being made to John Storer House in Loughborough by the local Tory Council.

A spokesman from Charnwood Borough Council told inLoughborough: The settlement to the John Storer House Foundation needs to be considered in the context of increasing demand for grants in difficult economic times. The grant approved at last nights Cabinet meeting of 44,000 is below that allocated to John Storer House last year but is comparable to the amount allocated in previous years.

The grant to John Storer House Foundation is the last of the major grant awards we have planned for 2009/10.

The Council has been a supporter of the John Storer House Foundation and Voluntary Action Charnwood for a number of years. In total these organisations will be getting 69,000 this year on top of around 300,000 in the 4 preceding years. John Storer House are invited to apply for a grant for specific projects where funding is required

In the New Year the Council will be taking a fresh look at its overall approach to providing grants, to ensure full benefit and value for money from use of public funds.
