A man who dumped bags of garden waste on the roadside has been ordered to pay out more than 300 by magistrates.

Keith Sweeney (52) of Ashleigh Road, Leicester, admitted to flytipping in Loughborough Road, Rothley, on June 11.

Loughborough Magistrates heard how he was spotted taking the bags containing grass and large tree cuttings out of his boot and dumping them.

He was ordered to pay costs of 303.44 and given a two year conditional discharge at the hearing on Tuesday. October 27.

Chris Cary. Charnwood Borough Councils Senior Environmental Crime Enforcement Officer, said: We will not tolerate people blighting the borough by dumping rubbish in this way and, as this case shows, we will take action again people who do this.

The councils Cabinet Member for the Environment, Hilary Fryer, said: I would ask people to think twice before flytipping. By doing so, you are not only creating an eyesore, but the likelihood is that you will get caught.

Anyone who wishes to report a fly-tip or, come forward with information in complete confidence, can call Charnwood Borough Council on 01509 634 657 / 634 905 or email cleaner.greener@charnwood.gov.uk
