Disabled people's achievements celebrated

Photo opportunity: The Chairman of Leicestershire County Council, Roger Wilson, is hosting a special celebration evening at County Hall on Wednesday 11th November 2009 to celebrate the achievements of disabled people. (photographers are welcome to attend at 8.00 pm)
Over 40 adults with a physical or learning disability, sensory impairment or mental ill health were nominated by friends, family and carers.
They will receive certificates for achievements including self-expression, overcoming personal barriers to achieve success, contributing to the community and sporting achievements.
Roger Wilson, the Chairman of the County Council, said:
"The nominations reflect Leicestershire's diverse and talented community and it is an honour to present awards to such deserving people."
