Fatal road traffic collision in Copt Oak
Officers from Leicestershire Constabulary's Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Copt Oak.
The incident happened just after 4pm yesterday (Sunday November 15, 2009) on the B591, Copt Oak Road near to the junction with Whitcroft’s Lane.
The collision involved a silver Renault Clio and a red Ford Focus.
The driver of the Clio, an elderly man, received serious injuries and was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary. He died in the early hours of this morning (Monday November 16.) He has yet to be formally identified.
The driver and passenger in the Focus were taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment to minor injuries.
Detective Sergeant Mark Watling, from the Serious Collision Investigation unit, said: “The Clio was travelling towards Loughborough and the Focus in the opposite direction towards Coalville when the collision happened.
“We would like anyone who witnessed the incident or who saw either vehicles prior to the collision to call us."
