New fitness classes are being launched at Systons South Charnwood Leisure Centre
Dancefit and Circuits will be held at the newly revamped venue in Parkstone Road aimed at the over 50s and people with health issues.
Dancefit classes will take place between 12.30pm and 1.30pm on Wednesdays with instructor Sarah Bragg and will kick off on November 25, while circuits will take place between 11am and noon on Fridays with Ray Mitchell and will begin on November 20.
The leisure centre is also setting up a specific exercise referral scheme, where two gym slots will be available for people who have been referred by their GP. Other gym users are also welcome to attend these and the classes.
These slots will take place from 1.30pm until 2.30pm on Mondays and 4pm and 5pm on Thursdays, and will start in December.
Lead member for Culture and Leisure at Charnwood Borough Council Peter Lewis said: These classes will be fun, will help improve your fitness and will also provide the opportunity to make new friends.
It is great that South Charnwood is setting up this referral scheme. If you dont like going to the gym you can do a class instead or both. However, the door is open to anyone who would like to join in.
Classes / gym slots cost 2.50 each for referrals, 3.50 for non referrals aged up to 59. People over 60 will be charged 2.50.
There is no need to book, but who wish to be referred need to see their GP and fill out the appropriate paperwork.
Charnwood Leisure Centre can be contacted on 0116 2640057. More information about the facility is available at: www.charnwood.gov.uk/pages/south_charnwood_swimming_pool
