Officers from the dog unit had a busy night on Monday after helping officers from the north and south arrest and charge two men following two separate assaults in Loughborough and Hinckley.

Today officers in the north of Leicester charged a 34-year-old man with GBH following an assault in Loughborough on Monday, November 16.

The incident happened at about 2pm in Morris Close when a woman was assaulted.

Officers from the dog unit and police dog Denny assisted officers from the Loughborough in arresting a 34-year-old man, shortly after the assault. He was later charged with section 18 GBH and has been remanded into police custody.

Back in the south of Leicester officers were called to an incident shortly before 9pm on Monday November 16, where a man was assaulted in Hinckley.

The same officers and police dog Denny were soon at the scene and detained two men until local officers arrived.

A 27-year-old man was arrested and charged with ABH following the assault.

The man was subsequently also arrested and charged with theft from a store and damage following an incident at a store in Hinckley earlier that day.

He appeared at Hinckley Magistrates Court this morning for all three offences.
