Leicestershire Guides Presentation Evening

Photo opportunity: Guides from Leicestershire will be presented with awards for their outstanding achievements at a special presentation evening.  Roger Wilson, Chairman of Leicestershire County Council, will present the awards on Thursday 26th November at 7.30pm at County Hall.

33 Guides will receive the Baden-Powell Challenge Award - the highest award Guides under the age of 15 can attain.  To get the awards they need to show that they have contributed to the community, learnt new skills and celebrated world-wide diversity.  The girls finished their award with an exciting adventure challenge weekend.

Five girls will receive The Chief Guide's Challenge Award.  This is the second highest award that members can work towards in guiding. It is open to all Senior Section members aged 14-25.  Those attaining this award will have completed the first two phases from all 8 octants of the Look Wider scheme.

Finally two Rangers will be presented with their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh awards.

Roger Wilson, Chairman of the County Council, said:

"It is wonderful to be able to celebrate the commitment and achievement of so many young people.  They have all put in a tremendous amount of hard work and effort to obtain the awards.  Well done to them all!"
