Museum re-opens with some sparkle!

On Saturday 12th December Melton Carnegie Museum partially re-opens with seasonal activities and a stunning new photographic exhibition.

Children are invited to come and enjoy some Christmas crafts with lots of glitter and glue guaranteed. Just drop in between 10am and 12noon or 2pm and 4pm. The activities are suitable for children aged 5 – 12 years and all children must be accompanied by an adult.

The Royal Photographic Society Distinction Panel Members’ Exhibition will be on display at Melton Carnegie Museum from Saturday 12th December until Sunday 14th March.

This exhibition shows work from some of The Society’s Distinction panel members, most of whom have achieved The Society’s highest level of Distinction, the Fellowship, which is awarded for exceptional standards of excellence and distinguished ability.

Melton Carnegie Museum has been closed for a year for a major building project which has created a 1st floor space for use by groups and has doubled the size of the ground floor. The museum will reopen fully in late spring 2010 when the new display Town and Country in the 21st Century has been completed.

For further information about Melton Carnegie Museum events and activities please call 01664 569946, email meltonmuseum@leics.gov.uk or see the website www.leics.gov.uk/meltonmuseum.

The museum will be open to the public from Saturday 12th December 10am – 4.30pm 7 days a week, but will be closed for Christmas from 12noon on 24th December until 10am on Wednesday 30th December.
