FREE CHRISTMAS DAY TRAIN AT THE GREAT CENTRAL RAILWAY

The Great Central Railway is treating Leicestershire residents to a free ride this Christmas Day. Passengers can join the 3.15pm departure from Loughborough Central station for a return trip.

The railway is one of the only places in the UK which operates trains on December 25th and its popular Christmas Dinner restaurant service sell out months in advance.

On Christmas Day afternoon a second departure is open to all Leicestershire residents who'd like a change from the television for the afternoon. Guests should join the train at Loughborough Central station, on Great Central Road. The train will return at approximately 4.30pm.

Between Boxing Day and January 3rd the railway is running every day. Some of the giants of its fleet will be in action including 'Oliver Cromwell', 'Sir Lamiel' and a visiting Black 5 locomotive. Kate Tilley from the Great Central Railway said, "Oliver Cromwell himself might not have enjoyed Christmas, but his namesake will be a central part of our celebrations. The locomotive is a very popular attraction and we hope people will take the chance over Christmas to come and see it."
