2 Grandparents Go Free With Every Paying Child

2 Grandparents go free with every paying child and voucher (downloaded from www.snibston.com) between Monday 28th and Thursday 31st December, this Christmas holiday at Snibston.  

So make this Christmas one to remember and bring the family down to Snibston to be entertained with this fantastic offer.  

Don’t miss the one-day spectacular to be held on Monday 28th December, ‘Robots Live’ which will be a magnificent and metallic celebration of all things fierce, fighting and fun – it will delight children from 5 to 95!  

The free event hosted by Snibston and produced by Robots Live! Ltd will showcase a variety of robots which are perfectly engineered to enter combat. From ant-size fighting machines which will display their warrior warfare in a mini arena, to football-playing, mechanical marvels that visitors can control to test their scoring skills, through to larger-than-life metal beasts which will be displayed for viewing around the foyer area - the event will have it all.

Visitors will be able to travel along the restored colliery railway between the 27th and 31st December during daylight hours before watching Pitt the colliery engine being put to bed in his shed for the night at dusk.

Also watch the beam engines working in the Transport, Extractive and Engineering galleries on Tuesday 29th December and Wednesday 30th December at 11am and 2pm.  

Dates and times may alter at any time, so please contact us before arriving at Snibston to ensure the train and beam engines are running on these dates and times.  

It’s the last chance to see our stunning exhibition in the free Community Gallery, Italy – A Sense of Place which ends on the 31st December, whilst our more recent exhibition, In Sheep’s Clothing will run until May 2010.

In Sheep’s Clothing, showcases in the Fashion Gallery, the work created by second year Fashion students of Nottingham Trent University during the ‘Woven in Time’ project, supported by Australian Wool Innovation and Leicestershire Museums.

About Snibston

Snibston is set on the site of a former colliery and consists of a multi-award-winning interactive museum, colliery buildings of national significance, the Century Theatre, a country park and nature reserve.

The museum displays a rich and diverse collection of objects, telling the story of technology and design and how it has affected everyday life from the past to the present and into the future.

Visitor Figures

In 2008/9 Snibston achieved 98,043 paying visitors, and almost 30,000 visitors to the country park and free exhibitions, and this year to date has seen a 4% increase in visitors.   Year on year, since 2005 there has been a 37.6% increase in paid admissions.

Admission

Snibston admission prices are £6.75 per adult, £4.50 per child and £4.75 per concession. Two grandparents go free with every full paying child and voucher, downloaded from www.snibston.com  from 28th – 31st December.

Museum opens until 5pm every day except 31st December when it will open until 3pm.
