Football tournament proves a hit

The goal of getting agencies and youngsters to work together in Hinckley was achieved when a special football tournament was held.
The five-a-side event was organised by Hinckley Youth Partnership, which consists of members of the town’s St Francis Youth Club, St Johns Youth Club, Leicestershire Youth Offending Service’s IMPACT Project, Youth Services and local police.
The Hinckley Youth Partnership was formed to enable agencies to work together to put on positive activities for young people in a safe environment and help reduce anti-social behaviour.
The event, which took place at Hinckley Leisure Centre on Saturday, December 12 and saw the two youth clubs go head-to-head, was the first the partnership had organised. It is hoped others will be held in the future.
Twenty five young people took part in the tournament and the overall winner was the team representing St Francis Community Youth Club.
All young people received a medal and St Francis Community Youth Club received a trophy.
Kam Chauhan, Impact Project Coordinator, said: “The tournament was a fun and active event and was well attended.
“Agencies are working together to try and reduce anti social behaviour and are providing enjoyable and constructive activities for the young people in the area to try and keep them out of future trouble.”
Jane Neale, Senior Youth Worker at St Francis Community Centre, said: “We were pleased to be involved with the event and our young people really enjoyed themselves.”
PC Clive Clarke, Hinckley Beat Officer, said: ‘It was good to see young people taking part at the event and I would like to thank agencies for their time and effort in organising the event for the young people of Hinckley.”
