Commitment given to innovative offices

Melton Borough Council and Leicestershire County Council are pleased to announce that they are officially signed up to new innovative shared offices.
New Council offices and a Civic Hall will be located on the derelict town station site on Burton Street . The offices should be open by late summer 2011.
The accommodation will provide a more joined up service for local people. Working under the same roof will enable the authorities to share information and co-ordinate local activities more effectively.
A good example of Melton Borough Council and Leicestershire County Council working effectively together is the three children and community centres in Melton where we have seen improvements for the local community.
As well as improving customer service, the new offices will generate savings through economies of scale and sharing of space. Both authorities have worked together closely to align their office accommodation strategies which focus on flexible working, open plan design and cutting down on paper.
Malise Graham, Leader of Melton Borough Council, said: “The new offices give us a unique opportunity to work more closely with partner organisations and achieve improvements to service delivery whilst also delivering efficiencies with shared investment in property, systems and technology.
"We are delighted to have the County Council as partner for another project.”
David Parsons, Leader of Leicestershire County Council, said: “We are pleased to be working with Melton Borough Council and looking forward to being part of a new initiative offering residents a variety of services from a single location.
“The Borough Council rightly took advantage of the opportunity to relocate after the unfortunate fire at Nottingham Road and the County Council is happy to support them.”
