Police are appealing for witnesses following an aggravated burglary at the Pizza Hut restaurant in Willow Brook Retail Park on Derby Road in Loughborough.

The incident happened at about 10.30pm on Saturday January 2, when three men forced their way inside the premises through a back door.

The three suspects, who were wearing black balaclavas, then approached a member of staff inside the restaurant and demanded money.

Two of the men were carrying what has been described as rounders style bats and the other was carrying a sledgehammer.

The suspects stole about £800 in cash from the restaurant.

A member of staff was hit with a bat by one of the suspects and his iPhone was stolen. An iPod was also stolen from a member of staff.

Nobody was seriously injured.

The three men left the restaurant and got into a black Ford Escort RS, with blacked out windows. The car drove off, turning left onto Derby Road.  

All three men are described as black and in their 20’s. The first man has been described about 5’ 10” tall, of medium build and wearing a hooded top and light blue jeans.

The second man has been described as about 6’ 2” tall, of slightly larger build and wearing a blue zip up hooded top with yellow writing, blue jeans and white trainers.

The third man has been described as about 5’ 9” tall, of medium build and wearing a black hooded top and light blue jeans.

Detective Constable, Jason Fell, who is investigating the incident, said: “Thankfully nobody was seriously injured, but this was a frightening experience for all the members of staff involved. I would appeal to anybody who saw a car matching this description in the Derby Road area to contact me.

“Did you see any suspicious activity in the Willow Brook Retail Park leading up to this incident? Did you see a parked car matching this description or anybody inside it? If so, or if you have any information about this incident then please come forward.”
