Come And Have A Taste
Posted on 13/01/2010
Parents of pupils at Blaby’s Thistly Meadow Primary School are being invited to a tasting session at the school to get a better idea of what’s on the menu for their children.
As part of a full day of events, parents will get to have a bite of their children’s lunches and see if they are up to scratch. Throughout the day the children will be learning about healthy meals and nutrition in a number of fun ways including assemblies and workshops.
Jackie Manship of the School Food Support Service will be at the school all day to help with the activities and assemblies. She said: “It is great to allow the parents to come in and have a taste of the menu, let them see the food their children are eating and support the school in encouraging healthy and nutritious lunches.”
Headteacher Karen Allen said: “We are really keen to encourage our children to eat healthily and so this is an important day for us. It is great to invite the parents in as well so they can see what takes place.
“The School Food Support Service has been very helpful in implementing the sessions for the day and helping with the menu - we know the children will love getting involved.”
