Hundreds of Leicestershire people, of all ages, have been invited to County Hall after taking part in a photography competition. Roger Wilson, the Chairman of Leicestershire County Council, will welcome them and present the winning entrants with prizes. The event is taking place at 7.15 pm at County Hall on Wednesday 27th January.
Over 200 photographs were received, all of a high quality, from local people for the competition which was based on the themes of wildlife and landscapes of Leicestershire.
The competition, run by Leicestershire County Council’s Historic and Natural Environment Team, was open to everyone and the entries received were all of a high standard. Judges were particularly impressed on the quality of the photographs taken and how well people had observed and captured the wildlife and landscapes around them.
Entries were judged by a panel comprising of young people from Connexions, volunteers involved in natural history recording and County Council members.
The winning photographs will be available to view at : www.leics.gov.uk/wildscapes from early February.
Roger Wilson, Chairman of Leicestershire County Council, said:
"The competition has shown the beauty of Leicestershire landscapes as well as the variety of wildlife the County has. I hope that the success of the competition will encourage people to continue to record what is around them. Well done to them all."
