A special promotion has been launched enabling anyone signing up for Charnwood Borough Council’s Wildcard to get it half price.

Last year around 4,500 people signed up to the scheme which offers free and discounted activities in leisure centres across the borough.

This offer runs until February 28 and is available to youngsters aged five to 16 and people with disabilities.

An added bonus to joining the scheme is the superb discounts Wild card members will receive on holiday activities during the February half term and Easter holidays at Loughborough Leisure Centre, Soar Valley Leisure Centre, Mountsorrel, and South Charnwood, Leisure Centre Syston.

Members can get up to 50 per cent discount on activities, with some being free.

The Wild card is valid for one year and normally costs £3 - or is free if youngsters receive free school meals.

Members can enjoy special discounts at more than 40 sports, leisure and arts facilities, visitor attractions and local retailers across the East Midlands. These include Twin Lakes, Snibston Discovery Park, Waterworld, Conkers, Go Ape, Manor Farm Animal and Donkey Sanctuary and the Great Central Railway.

Cllr Peter Lewis, Lead member for Culture and Leisure at Charnwood Borough Council, said: “The Wild card gives people a pathway to participate in sport, leisure and arts activities at discounted prices throughout the whole year.

“We hope this promotion encourages even more residents to sign up and take advantage of this great scheme.”

Leisure Services staff will be visiting schools in Charnwood to talk to young people about the wild card and the benefits of leading an active lifestyle.
