Andy Reed MP popped into the brand new Loughborough Sports Park to meet some of the first new tenants.
"Sports Park is a first class facility and will secure jobs for the town as well as giving Loughborough the opportunity to modernise our sporting governing bodies in the same way as Loughborough has managed to provide expertise and coaching to our leading athletes and swimmers.
"I have been involved in securing the Sports Park project for the last few years and it is great to see this £15m investment coming to life with the first new tenants - Youth Sports Trust and GB Wheelchair basketball."
"This alone will bring and secure 500 jobs in the town. I have asked for a greater impact study of the economic benefits of sport to the town. I bet there are nearly 1000 jobs directly or mainly dependent on sport. It has a massive impact locally and not just in direct jobs but in support industries like printing and catering. This is a potential growth area for our local economy."
