Loughborough MP Andy Reed has today written personally to County Council Leader David Parsons, urging that Shepshed Volunteer Bureau be given funding to remain in operation.

The future of the bureau is in jeopardy following the announcement that the County Council is seeking to make widespread cuts in funding they provide for voluntary groups undertaking essential work in local communities throughout the county.

Over six hundred people have signed a petition urging that the County Council save the Volunteer Centre in Shepshed and Reed has urged Cllr Parsons not to ignore the plight of people in Shepshed and to ensure that urgent action is taken to save the centre.

Reed stated “even taking into account the fact that Leicestershire County Council is controlled by a Conservative administration, surely they cannot impose spending restrictions that will hit some of our most vulnerable people the hardest”.
