A fun programme of sports and leisure events has been arranged by Charnwood Borough Council to keep youngsters entertained during the February half-term holiday.
The authority’s school holiday activity programme need not cost the earth – as there are a number of free sessions and pounds to be saved for Wild Card holders.
Events arranged for five to 16-year-olds between Monday, February 15th and Friday, February 19th across the borough include ice skating, horse riding, climbing and high ropes, while a number of wet activities will be held at South Charnwood Swimming Pool in Syston.
Charnwood’s Play Rangers will also be holding free sessions in Shepshed, Queniborough, Sileby, Loughborough and Syston with two popular Play Days, which will include creative play and photography sessions among others.
The Wild Card is also on offer with new members able to sign up before 31st March for only £1.50 instead of the usual price of £3.
Wild Card holders can save up to 50 per cent on the half-term holiday activities and receive fantastic discounts at tourist attractions across the East Midlands.
Cllr Peter Lewis, Charnwood Borough Council’s Lead Member for Culture and Leisure, said: “There’s no excuse for youngsters to be bored this half term because there is such a rich variety of activities on offer.
“They can have a go at a sport they really enjoy – or learn something completely new. I would urge people to reap the rewards of the Wild Card scheme and take advantage of the amazing offer we’ve put on. I promise your youngsters will tell you it’s ‘wild!’ ”
A holiday activity brochure combining both the February and Easter activities is being distributed to schools and can be picked up at Loughborough Town Hall and Loughborough, Soar Valley and South Charnwood Leisure Centres.
Bookings can now be made by sending the application form to Leisure Services, Charnwood Borough Council, Southfield Road, Loughborough, LE11 2TX or by calling the Charnwood Borough Council’s Leisure Services team on 01509 634 673 between 1pm - 4pm, Monday to Friday.
