Public meetings about transforming learning in Loughborough, Quorn and Barrow
Posted on 30/01/2010
Parents/carers and members of the public are invited to one of a series of meetings about exciting proposals to transform learning in Loughborough, Quorn and Barrow-upon-Soar.
The County Council could receive up to £80 million of Government Building Schools for the Future (BSF) funding to provide 21st Century schools with state-of-the-art facilities and the latest ICT and technology.
A total of 16,500 consultation documents have been distributed to schools, governors, parents/carers and others with an interest in schools in Loughborough, Quorn and Barrow to give everyone a chance to have their say.
Each of the meetings will comprise a short presentation about how secondary and special education could be transformed followed by a question and answer session. Refreshments will be available prior to each meeting.
Ivan Ould, the County Council’s Cabinet Member for the Children and Young People’s Service, said: “The public meetings will give people more information which will help them to take part in the consultation exercise.
“BSF funding presents a once in a lifetime opportunity to transform learning and provide the very best facilities for young people and the community in Loughborough, Quorn and Barrow and we would like to hear people’s views on this.”
