Schools Football and Cricket Celebration Event
Posted on 05/02/2010
Photo Opportunity: A celebration of school sport will take place at County Hall on Tuesday 2nd February 2010 when Roger Wilson, the Chairman of Leicestershire County Council, will welcome young footballers and cricketers to acknowlege their achievements. (Photographers are invited to attend at around 8pm)
The Leicestershire Schools Football Association and the Leicestershire Schools Cricket Association are uniting for a joint celebration event organised by Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport Competitions Board. The purpose of the event is to raise the profile of these two organisations, recognise their success and award their players and volunteers. There are a number of categories being awarded including Most Valuable Player and Young Official.
The Chairman of Leicestershire County Council, Roger Wilson, said:
"There are lots of young people participating and achieving in sport across the County and it will be a pleasure to welcome some of the young players to County Hall to recoginse their achievements and to acknowledge the contribution made to sport by volunteers.
“It will also be of interest to hear how two major school sports organisations are working hard to further develop and ensure opportunities are available for all young people."
