Jobs boost for unemployed young people

Up to 85 young unemployed people will get a taste of jobs at the County Council, thanks to a £520,000 scheme.

The County Council is offering six month jobs in services such as care, administration, country parks and libraries, as part of the Government’s Future Jobs Fund. It provides opportunities for unemployed people aged from 18-24.

Council leader David Parsons said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to nurture talent in Leicestershire, providing real opportunities for people to develop themselves.”

The six month posts will give people training and experience, to increase their future prospects of finding jobs.

Posts will be advertised at Job Centres across the county later this month and anyone interested in applying should contact them.

The Future Jobs Fund is bringing nearly 1,000 jobs to Leicester and Leicestershire.

Background:

The Government launched the Future Jobs Fund to create 150,000 posts.  More than 3,600 jobs have been pledged for the East Midlands, with more than one thousand opportunities being created by more than 50 public and voluntary sector organisations across Leicester and Leicestershire.
