Coalville bus promotion just the ticket
Posted on 27/02/2010
People travelling on bus service 159 will be entitled to a host of new promotional offers and discounts from outlets and restaurants in Coalville starting in March.
Service 159 operated by Roberts Tours, runs on Mondays to Saturdays from Coalville to Hinckley, via Newbold Verdon and Market Bosworth.
Passengers using the service can pick up a new voucher booklet, packed with deals from participating restaurants and outlets in the town centre including a florist, salon and clothing and gift shops.
Coupons enabling passengers to travel on service 159 for just 50 pence are also available as part of the special promotion.
The offers come as £70,000 of improvements to bus stops along the route between Coalville and Ibstock are completed. These include new bus stops, better bus information displays and raised kerbs.
Raised kerbs bring the pavement in line with the bus entrance, making it easier for everyone including disabled users, people with pushchairs and the elderly to get on and off the bus.
Lesley Pendleton, County Council Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport, said: ”Our officers have been working very closely with North West Leicestershire District Council and businesses in Coalville to provide added value for passengers using this route whilst attracting custom to the area.
“We are taking active steps to improve bus service quality and make access easier to both encourage new users and boost the service for existing passengers.”
Community Radio Station Hermitage FM is also helping to promote the service by running competitions where listeners can win an i-pod and high street vouchers.
To get hold of a voucher book residents can visit www.leics.gov.uk/transport_promotions to request a copy or call 0116 305 8777. Vouchers are valid from 1st March to 1st May 2010 when presented with a valid bus ticket.
