Three warrants have been executed at addresses in Shelthorpe in Loughborough and five people arrested for burglary.

The warrants, issued under the Theft Act 1968, took place at three properties in Shelthorpe on Friday 12th February 2010.

Officers from the Neighbourhood Action Team entered an address on Poplar Road and recovered property such as lap tops, power tools and other electrical equipment which are thought to have been stolen in a burglary.  A 19 year old man and a 17 year woman were arrested on suspicion of burglary.

Two other people were arrested at a property on Ling Avenue also on suspicion of burglary.  They are a 25 year old man and a 28 year old woman.  Another warrant was carried out at a second address on Ling Road and a fifth person was arrested on suspicion of burglary – a 42 year old man. All five people have been released on police bail until March 2010.

More than 90 items of property, which are believed to be stolen, were discovered in the three properties.  They include jewellery, digital cameras, large quantities of stationary, DJ equipment including thousands of specialist CD's, Sat Navs, iPods, laptops, electrical power tools, games consoles and games, televisions, DVD players and discs and a large quantity of cash.

Sergeant Nigel Rixon said; “These warrants have been carried out as part of our ongoing campaign to tackle burglaries in the Loughborough area.  We are targeting burglars and the people who handle stolen property.  Only last month we arrested four people and recovered more than a hundred items of stolen property at properties in the Loughborough area and now we have found another one hundred items of property we believe were stolen in burglaries.

“We want to get all the property back to its rightful owners so we’d ask anyone who has had anything stolen in a burglary to get in touch with us.  It is particularly useful if people have made records of model numbers or serial numbers especially for electrical equipment such as lap tops.

“We have recovered a large quantity of what looks like professional ‘DJing’ equipment and yet our records show that no one has reported having any equipment of that sort taken so we’d also urge people who have had items stolen, but not reported it to us, to come forward and let us know.

“Also if anyone has any information about the people who are committing this type of crime then I would urge them to get in touch so that we can take further action.”
