Posted on 17/03/2010
Community Services
Leicestershire museums, libraries and country parks will be hosting numerous events, many of which are free throughout the school holidays to keep the family entertained across the county. There’s something for everyone, whether your family enjoy arts and crafts, games and puzzles, historical or nature events.
A varied programme of Easter break activities (Sat 27th March to Sun 13th April) are listed on the website. For inspiration and heaps of fun, visit www.leics.gov.uk/schoolholidayevents.
Activities to choose from include:
- Design your Family Coat of Arms, storytelling and craft activities in county libraries
- Easter Egg hunts at Watermead Country Park
- Hands on Hawks at Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre & country park
- Animals in Hands workshops at Charnwood Museum
There are fantastic competitions to take part in such as Design a Garden Competition in partnership with Palmers Garden Centre on the back of the Events Guide, where creative children can design their dream garden and a share of £150 worth of garden vouchers could be won. Also the Easter Art Competition at Hinckley & Bosworth libraries (20 March -10 April) ‘What will hatch from your Egg?’ based on Emily Gravett’s book, ‘The Odd Egg’. Great prizes can be won for the most imaginative hatchlings.
If you are still struggling for ideas on what to do with your children over the holiday break why not have a look online at:

The Events Guide offers many reasons to visit the countryside and get involved in outdoor pursuits like walking, fishing, countryside crafts or even joining in a volunteer day. Why not take part in the library competition and you could win some great health equipment.
