Andy Reed, Loughborough's MP, is set to meet with Iain Wright MP Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, Shirley Pearce, Loughborough University Vice Chancellor and members of Storer & Ashby Area Residents Group (SARG)
Town MP Andy Reed is holding a key meeting with a Government Minister and key stakeholders regarding “studentification” issues in Loughborough.
The meeting is set to take place on Tuesday 13 May between 9am and 10 30am.
Since October 2006 Reed has been working with closely with a number of groups including Loughborough University, Charnwood Borough Council and SARG specifically on the task of trying to get some ground breaking legislation through the statute books. This would provide local authorities throughout the country with an effective tool to control concentrations of student properties.
Hilda Puttick speaking for SARG said “we are very much looking forward to the Minister’s visit next week and hope that the culmination of many years hard work will bring tangible results for Loughborough”.
Reed said “it’s been a long road so far, dealing with many complex matters on housing legislation, but I’m confident that at our meeting next week we can take a further positive step forward”. He added “I’m looking to ensure we can achieve a change that will in turn benefit not only Loughborough communities but communities in other university towns throughout the United Kingdom”.
